Trauma Fellowship
The Edinburgh Trauma Fellowship is a world renowned fellowship aiming to provide fellows with the chance to hone and perfect their skills in complex and general trauma. The fellowship runs from August to July each year and at present we are unable to accommodate shorter programmes. Successful applicants will join the dynamic Edinburgh Orthopaedic Trauma Unit, typically rotating through two six-month jobs covering both adult upper limb and lower limb trauma. The exact attachments can be altered to suit the specific requirements of specific candidates.
Spine trauma is not provided by our service.
Fellows will be expected to contribute to the on-call rota, working regular evenings and weekends, providing emergency Orthopaedic trauma care for a population of approximately 1.2 million individuals with tertiary referrals from a wider population. This a busy but very rewarding fellowship with a generous amount of outpatient clinic and theatre experience. Fellows are encouraged to engage in ongoing research projects, journal clubs and of course social events.
At present we are full until August 2026.
Successful candidates must have completed an approved orthopaedic surgical training programme (FRCS Tr&Orth or equivalent) and have less than three years experience post completion of training.
